What I have been working on these months. (For Horse mainly)
Here is my current project. It's a 1975 Newlands 11ft Van.

Currently installing 12volt solar
2 x 125AH (Gel)
2x 100ah (sealed lead acid )
2 x 100watt solar panels new
2x 80 watt solar panels (Old BP) in 2 separate systems 1 for back up,
Gas fridge,
2x Water pumps, 1 for the water filter 1 for the eventual portable HW shower
100w Bluetooth stereo amp 12 volt
2 x 100 watt pioneer speakers
1 NUC (Comp)
1 x 24" screen
1 x 1000 / 2000 watt Giandel Pure Sine Inverter
59 litr water tank (eventually 2 x 43ltr modulars)

I know it's a bit like Daves dynamite (loaded dog) I have wanted this while I been away cramped in a tent for years.

Also have just bought a 2000 Pajero to yank it along.

enjoy! https://www.flickr.com/photos/ianszen/

Looks like all the power is for your speaker system more than anything else!

Looks like a fun project. Planning on taking a decent trip with it when you are done?

I saw this on reddit the other day which I thought was pretty sweet: http://imgur.com/gallery/ecVOZ

This one is pretty sweet also: http://imgur.com/gallery/dhbGw/new

I have a mind to do something similar myself.

No, really this is a mild solar application, In the future I will install a 12volt fridge, I might be able to run my coffee machine with a few more panels! Also i need to recharge power tools etc. When you do decide let me know and I have learnt a lot and lost some $ over this year doing it

Wow, the first bus was an epic journey into refab hell! Committed bunch with good friends.

I have some fave spots called "Delicates" North near Crescent Head and South called Congo. East of Moruya. Both basic National Park camps. No hot showers, long drop toilets.
I will test "Charles" as i have named the lil beastie. On a short trip south first to Nowra.

Sounds like a great trip. The other random trip idea I have is circumnavigating Australia by small aircraft - probably couldn't live on it, but would be a great way to see the country...

Yep, will let you know if/when I decide to try to refurb something... I was looking on TradeMe (our eBay/GumTree) last night...

You can fly? Small aircraft sounds amazing with a small camp stove and 3 > 4 swags? but you might miss a bit. Every time I travel I see a lil side track and sometimes find an off road local that is just magic.

Yep, learnt when I was younger - out of date now, but a few hours would put me right. Good thing is Australia has a ton of flat land, so would be quite a few places to take off and land.
